The Story of Trey White I'm just going to go with the web trends and create a page about myself. I've never understood why people put a huge page of text on their website for people to read up on them, but I guess there are actually people out there that like to read about other people. :) So, to those of you who have read this far down, I guess you are in this elite group of people and you're actually going to read this, so I might as well tell you a little bit about me before you get mad that you've read all this information and still don't know a thing about me.
After high school though, many of us went our separate ways to different colleges. I went to Auburn University about 15 minutes from that house on Oakbowery Road where I grew up. Since I've always been fascinated with computers and their interaction with us during our daily lives, I decided to go after a degree in Software Engineering. And, the nerdification of Trey begins... lol. It's a common misconception that all of us computer guys are renerded, but it doesn't bother me that people think that, and getting into the details of computer science and software engineering, I began to see why we receive so much harassment after sizing up some of my classmates. College went by really fast for me, even though it was a good 4 and a half years before I walked across the stage to receive my college degree. I regret that I wasn't able to do all of the socializing that I was hoping to do while in college, but to be completely honest, most of my time was spent studying. It was truly difficult to get a degree in engineering. And, to rise to the occasion, I had to focus on my studies quite a bit.
While in my first year in Atlanta, I started a business with a college buddy of mine (Felipe) called eWeb Productions, LLC. We did web design and development, and for a while there it was pretty successful (well, as successful as a side business can get when you can't put alot of effort into it from 8am-5pm on weekdays). After a while though, we have not been able to put as much effort into it, and Felipe has actually become a Canadian citizen, and eWeb Productions is now mine alone. I'm thinking about making a push to revitalize the company, so let I'll keep you updated on it's progress. There are several other projects that I'm going to try to get working on in the near future as well, and you can keep track of these projects in the projects section of my website. For now though, I'm tired of typing, so, I'll try to update this page as my life story unfolds. Thanks for reading this far if you actually did it, and please visit my blog when you get a chance. I love people to comment on my entries, so it doesn't feel like I'm talking to the wall. :) |
I was born on January 9, 1982 in Opelika, AL (picture on the right) at the East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC). I was born at 4:00pm on the dot and I weighed 7.0 lbs on the dot (you can just already tell that I'm going to be OCD). After being brought into this world and leaving the hospital, I went to the first of 2 houses I would live in before graduating high school. The first house we moved out of when I was 3ish, so I lived the majority of my pre-adulthood life in one house on Oakbowery Road. It was a nice childhood I would say, so I grew up with basically the same friends, and we all went to the same high school... we played sports together, etc.
Just after graduation, I was offered a job by Echostar Communications (more commonly known as The Dish Network) to come on as a Software Engineer and work on their set-top boxes (STB) that would deliver TV content from satellites to the consumer. We have since spun off from The Dish Network as an independent STB producer called Echostar Communications (we kept the name... but we are no longer the same company as Dish... we sell them our products). Regardless of that, the new job allowed me to move to the "big city"... Atlanta (picture on right). I've been living in Atlanta now since January of 2005, and I bought a house in Woodstock (a suburb of Atlanta) in November of 2006. I guess you could say that I've settled down a bit. I like the Woodstock area, as it's not that different from growing up in a small city like Opelika... but, I'm very close to all the action that Altanta has to offer. I have the best of both worlds... so to speak.
